Matha muove i primi passi nella drum and bass verso l’adolescenza a Belfast, la casa di Calibre, dove assiste ad un suo live set e dove conosce per la prima volta l’universo della drum and bass in prima persona.
Lo stile liquid di Calibre e la conoscenza di vari artisti e pionieri del genere gli rimangono definitivamente dentro come patrimonio incustodito, perché in Italia la scena non è accessibile a tutti e spesso viene snobbata a livello generale.
Il calcio, la scuola, l’università e il lavoro lo sviano per qualche tempo dalla passione che però permane e torna periodicamente a galla.
Addentrandosi più profondamente negli ambienti underground riscopre pian piano un mondo che gli apparteneva ma che non aveva mai potuto toccare per bene.
La svolta definitiva è la conoscenza di Scrambled Brains e Dj Hobbes dei Gtk Soundsystem. Passa le domeniche pomeriggio con Scramble Brain a mettere vinili e ha l’occasione di contemplare dal vivo l’arte del vinile.
Grazie a loro, dopo il suo trasferimento a Bologna, conosce la Jungle Planet Radio, con cui avrà inizio un rapporto meraviglioso tanto che lui stesso al definisce la sua seconda famiglia.
